!#$&@!!! ...Deadlines and I have never been friends. It doesn't matter how early I start, I still need just one more day or just five minutes more or... you know the story. Anyway, sorry I have not been posting here lately. The deadline came and I needed just three more hours :)
I will try to catch up the blog today!

Everything looks awesome, Lynne! Waht an amazing piece of art! Can't wait to see the finished product! You are so talented! Jody
Very interesting... I found this site "next blog"ing i.e. by accident, and the picture of the bass really grabbed me. I thought you were actually building a steel bass instrument, not "art" (yes, I am a philistine, but metal fabrication intrigues me). I had to go back further to find out what you were up to - very cool. I've always liked the shape of the violin and f-holes for some reason - I bought a Hofner "Beatle" bass even though I don't really play - I just like the look and feel of it.
Still I wonder what it would sound like... I suppose it would be too heavy, especially if the neck was solid, but still... Aluminum might work, but you'd need a very expensive tig welder.
bookmarking you - good work!
Thanks and welcome! BTW there are real basses made of aluminum! I found one when I was researching this project on the Upton bass repair site: http://www.stringrepair.com/Double_Bass_GAPfretzschner_Aluminum_Bass.htm ...it's pretty cool!
